I
have been designing, making and flying RC model aircraft for over 30
years. These days however I tend to concentrate more on the
slope soaring side of the hobby. As well as sport flying I
also compete at National level in the EPP60 Pylon Racing and F3F
classes.
I discovered
Vapextech NiMH battery packs about 3 years and since starting to use
them in my models and transmitters I can honestly
say that they have performed flawlessly. If they didn't
I would not use them and I certainly would not sell them.
Because I am familiar with RC model aircraft I limit
the type of battery packs I sell those that I have had experience
with.
The range I stock includes AAA and AA size packs in
Flat, Square and Hump configuration. These are available in 4.8v and 6v
for use
powering the receiver and servos and 9.6v for use
with transmitters. Most receiver and servo installations can quite
adequately be used
with a 4.8v pack however larger applications where
there is more power and speed demand can benefit from the use of a 6v pack.
Please check the specification of your equipment though as some items can be
damaged by using 6 volts.
All the packs I sell are pre assembled by Vapextech and
are fitted
with Futaba plugs.
A recent addition to the range has been the introduction of a
transmitter pack fitted with a small white plug suitable for Spektrum
and
certain JR transmitters such as the PCM 9XII or X 9303
One of the newer developments in battery design has
been the Vapextech Instant range. These perform in a very similar
way to the
popular Sanyo Eneloop cells in that they have a very low self
discharge rate. What this means is that a charged pack will
self discharge at a very low rate meaning that when it needs charging that the
charge time will be much lower than it would have been
than if it had
been a conventional NiMH or NiCad pack. I've been using one
of these types of packs in my transmitter for over two years
and it has
worked perfectly and just as it should during that period.
Sailplaneworld is very much a sideline business which subsidises my hobby and as a fellow modeller I know the sort of
service
you require. One thing I have found is that it is
difficult to keep a stock of all my range all the time. Because of this
and although it is not
as cost effective as it could be I prefer to sell the battery packs
on Ebay and not have an eCommerce website. This way I can keep a
a constant check on stock meaning that batteries are only available
for sale if they are physically in stock. Alternatively I am happy to
sell direct but payment will have to be by
PayPal. Please contact me to arrange this type of transaction.
Being a modeller I know how impatient we can be
especially when we need something urgently to either finish a model or
to be in a
position to use it. Because of this I will always try, when possible, to post any item on the same day that it
is bought providing
this is before 3pm on a weekday and 11am on a
Saturday.
Problems do inevitably occur, normally due to a
battery pack having a rough journey through the postal system. If this
does happen
then please contact me immediately. I don't like
being messed about with when I encounter a problem with something I've
bought so I
don't expect you to either with something you buy
from me. To that end I will try and rectify any problem with a battery you buy from
me
as quickly as possible.
Thank you for reading this and I hope to be able to provide you with a
good service in the future.
If you require further information please feel free to contact
me using one of the methods at the bottom of the page.
